HISTORY
1992
Interfaith Hospitality Network of Somerset County creates an emergency shelter program through a network of local religious congregations.
2003
Through the generosity of North Branch Reformed Church, IHNSC opens the doors to Sunrise House, a transitional living facility located in Bridgewater, NJ.
2004
Phase 2, an independent living support program, is created to help families as they leave the emergency shelter and move into their own housing.
2006
The NJ Department of Community Affairs awards project-based, ten-year rental assistance vouchers to IHNSC for two apartments in North Plainfield, launching the Phase 3 Permanent Supported Housing Program.
2008
Sound Minds, a mental health program, begins providing evaluation and counseling services for adults and children.
2013
Funded by the Homelessness Trust Fund, IHNSC launches a homeless prevention program focusing on financial counseling with referrals from the Somerset County Community Development office.
2014
In collaboration with the Somerset Valley YMCA, Daycare Plus provides children with high-quality child care program at the Somerville YMCA.
2020
IHNSC obtains funding for Neighbors In Need, which provides independent living support to families in the community.
2021
Interfaith Hospitality Network of Somerset County (IHNSC) rebrands as HOME of Somerset County.
2023
HOME partners with Bound Brook Presbyterian Church to provide bi-lingual case management services to immigrant families in Bound Brook.
CONGREGATION PARTNERS
Religious congregations are the backbone of the Emergency Shelter Program, providing overnight accommodations and meals on a weekly basis to families and financial support to HOME.
